Greta came with me on vacation and she delighted most everyone she met!  We stayed very busy with fun, family and food!

At the moment, I am photographing and preparing a bunch of hats for the shop.  Seven new striped pixie hats and a few new colors of berets will be going up sometime tomorrow.   Missed the one you wanted or looking for a specific color combination?   I take commissions for knitted hats!

In personal dolly news, I recently acquired my second Emerald the Enchanting Witch!   Ironically, I sewed a few gift dresses for Emeralds before I owned one and have yet to sew for my own, so that will be a high priority in the next month.  I have a few ideas for the silhouettes I would like to see on them.  I love their chubby little bodies.

Swatching

It is a rainy and gray spring day in Portland.  I personally love days such as these because they make me enjoy little comforts like a mug of Mexican Cocoa, fleece blankies and knitting!

Swatch Knitting (by keyinherpocket - Parasol Doll)

My design mind is on summer and I have several plans I hope to execute for the upcoming warm weather.  Today, I have been swatching several different types of yarn and needle sizes to compare the different types of fabric each combination makes and to get gauge.  Once I have the ideal combination, I will begin the pattern for a crisscross strap bodice to be sewn on fabric skirts.  My plans are to have a button closure in back and button closures on the straps.  I’ve wanted to combine sewing and knitting for a while, so I’m pretty excited.  *fingers crossed*

I have also begun drafting a pattern for a circular neck tunic that can be knit short as a shirt or long as a dress.  My first prototype is almost finished and I have learned a great deal about how to adapt it for a better fit.  The arm holes are too large on the prototype, but I think it will be cute over a puffy sleeved blouse!

In the above photo, Greta is wearing an amazing outfit sewn by the amazing Miss.Amour!  It was a birthday gift and this set deserves to have a ballad written about it, the loveliness is that grand.  A proper photo shoot will happen soon.
